W.H.A.M.!

Our Actions Against A Rising Threat In North America

In November of 2003, the Fort Saskatchewan Boys and Girls Club did a survey of all the High School Students in Fort Saskatchewan on the availibility of drugs, and the number who do them. The results that they received back were quite alarming. A majority of the students knew how to get drugs if they wanted them, a quarter of the students had done some sort of illegal drug within the last week. The one that stood out the most as a significant incrase from past years was Crystal Meth.  It is almost always lethal if left untreated and is addictive to the point where one in three people will be hooked after doing trying it for the first time.

Our group decided to aid the community by putting on a play, the idea for which came forth from the Boys and Girls club in Fort Saskatchewan when they asked us to come up with some skits about Crystal Meth. When we started to write the skits, we had several different ideas on how to look at the problem. Finally we decided on one, how a group of friends is affected by the drug. After the script was finished, it was deemed by the Boys and Girls Club to be to long and therefore useless to them. We then revised the script a few more times and waited.

In July of 2004, we were conacated by the community services branch, of the city of Fort Saskatchewan, about the play we had written and given an opportunity to perform it in the new theater that had just been built. It was performed on October 22nd 2004 for the first time. Since our group was no longer affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club, it had another period of downtime over the winter, until it was brought into the city of Spruce Grove in February of 2005. And are going from there.

Our Name is W.H.A.M.!
(Working Hard Against Meth).

Our Goal is to inform as many people as we can about the effects of Crystal Meth. And to provide a way for communities, churches, schools, clubs, or whoever, to inform others in their area about this evil drug.
